Sep 3, 2023 - Key hydropower complex in south China put into full-scale operation
All power generation units of the Dateng Gorge Water Conservancy Project have now been put into full operation as of September 2. Located at the outlet of the Dateng Gorge on the mainstream of the Qianjiang River of the Pearl River Basin in Guiping City in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the project is designed for flood control, navigation, power generation, water supply and irrigation. After the completion of the entire project, the navigation capacity of the Qianjiang River will be enhanced from 300 to 3,000 tonnes. It also shortens the response time for emergency water replenishment from 10 days to three days, effectively ensuring the safety of the water supply in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
