Energy systems are experiencing change from all directions—from new technologies and connections to new risks and consequences. Combining integrated modeling tools with grid-scale hardware, NREL developed an environment that can emulate the scale and complexity of energy systems and the multidimensional hazards they face. This research showcases how NREL tools can be used to design more resilient and secure energy systems against compounding risks.
