About the Webinar: This study investigates the relationship between distributed generation (DG) and transmission infrastructure planning, focusing on the Western United States. Our findings confirm that DG can, at moderate levels, reduce the need for new transmission investments. However, as DG penetration increases, there`s a shift: more transmission capacity and energy storage become necessary. The study`s findings highlight the need for a balanced approach considering resource diversity on both sides of the meter in future resource and transmission planning efforts.
